The Type 88 was fitted in Naval Radio Vans which operated as Vehicular Mobiles.

It was a HF set 1.5 - 15 Mc/s, 230V AC 50 c/s, with a power out of 100W on CW and 50W on MCW and R/T.

Its BR was BR 1371 and it was replaced by the Type 617.
