|WHERE USED/FITTED||Type 71. The range claimed is as follows. If the set is on the deck
= 50 miles, but if fitted below decks = 25 miles!
This transmitter is a single valve HF transmitter. It may be fitted:-
a. in the second office in conjunction with an MF set
of virtually any type of ship requiring HHF [High High Frequency]/VHF working using it to and from aircraft. Note the frequency range above !
The normal fit of the Type 71 which uses the Type 7H transmitter is usually ABOVE THE UPPER DECK in a position secure from gun blasts and spray and also as far as possible from receiving aerials of other sets and from rigging and wire stays.
