TX5D P

TYPE 5D TRANSMITTER

DATE OF DESIGN 1929. Virtually the same as the 5C with a couple of subtle differences.
FREQUENCY RANGE 6250 - 25000 k/cs on some sets locally converted down to 4290 kc/s
POWER SUPPLY 1.5 kW Rotary Converter
TYPE OF SET VALVE
WAVEFORM ICW. The frequency of the note is very gruff owing to the low frequency of the A.C. supply from the rotary converter to the transformer i.e., about 70 cycles per second.
METHOD OF PRODUCING OSCILLATIONS SELF
WHERE USED/FITTED HF Attachment fitted with Type 2 or Type 4 from which the power supply is obtained. By this time, these two Type Systems were anywhere between 15 and 20 years old.  That is no problem! As I write this the RN still have Type 42 destroyers fitted with ICS2 and that is 33 years old to my certain knowledge!

The circuits show the series and parallel connection of switch 9 above.  The picture on top shows the 5C when fitted with the Type 4 [destroyers etc] and the bottom with Type 2 all other ships larger than destroyers.
