Whilst we at the Museum have a great deal of information on our core subjects [navigation and radio communications {W/T}] we cannot hope to have all the answers.  Therefore, we are using our website to point out to you other sources of information, but, unlike our site, these will involve a cost, sometimes a huge and hefty cost to obtain the information you want.  Getting it is also time consuming and you should allow up to a month before the information drops through your letter box.  Nevertheless, if you really want the information it is readily available in British archives.  You can circumvent this 'wait' period by visiting the Archives in person and getting the information copied for you in-situ. Additionally, some of these subjects have already been covered comprehensively on our site, and for the Signalman on the V/S side of communications, there is much valuable knowledge here not covered by our site.

* Using the second column only {ADM 186/... being the first column}, click on a description of the data which will reveal the relevant National Archive dialogue box.  Then click on 'ordering and viewing options' for more details. Ignore the top left hand box asking for a Reference and then telling you to go to that Reference.

As I said, it does take time, and it can be very expensive - a major document will set you back £500GBP or so, plus postage insurance if you choose to 'protect' your cost outlay.  The further you are from the UK the more expensive [because of postage and postage insurance] it becomes.  Good hunting.
