TYPE OR OUTFIT NAME
C lick on each scuttle title to reveal the
contents but also follow the instructions beneath the scuttle. When it
tells you to look at 2.pdf for example, it means first click on the
scuttle and then at a specific part of the opened file. Your
comprehensive understanding of each Type from 1 to 13 will be enhanced
by reading the 19th Century Files and the Pre WW1 Files.
The majority of scuttles show pictures and text but there are some
with text only. All transmitters in a given series are shown even though
the scuttle title might not show a specific set: i.e. scuttle
RED 49 shows the Type 51 basic transmitter
but behind it, you will find all transmitters [other than Type 51HX
shown separately] in the Type 51 series.
Equipments are "grouped" in terms of characteristics and not in
terms of date designed or issued. Thus, the Type 53 {which
obviously comes before say a Type 71, was designed in 1933 whereas the
71 was designed in 1925. A VERY
IMPORTANT NOTE IF YOU ARE USING ADOBE READER 8
On this site there are many PDF files. When you
open them in ADOBE READER 8 you may have to click on a special icon to make
sure that the pages all follow on from each other. This is
particularly important where large block or schematic diagrams have been
publish in two or more sections. In ADOBE 8, look at the task bar [the
top bar one of whose icons is the printer] and approximately in the middle
you will see icons with arrows in them, the first being two arrows pointing
East and West, and the second, four arrows pointing N,S,E and W. Click on
the two arrow icon.
