BR222 - KNOWN THROUGHT THE FLEET AS "THE TWICER*"
THE BR 222 DISTRIBUTION LIST OF 1930 AND 1953. A HISTORY LESSON IN ITSELF !
The BR was written for operators of radio communications equipments.
*Back at the beginning of the 20th century there was another naval twicer, but of a parochial nature rather than a pan-navy nature. It was associated with the Ganges at Shotley [Harwich Harbour] where sheer numbers of trainees demanded that a second ship should be called the Ganges but this time Ganges II. It was nicknamed the 'twicer' because of that suffix.
