Where used/fitted. HF Attachment fitted in conjunction with Type 14 from which the power supply is obtained. Short range communications of approximately 5 miles only on MF.  Its principle function is to transmit on HF when the deck insulator is too wet [rough seas] to permit the use of the Type 14 ARC transmitter.  The Type 14 was the very first Arc in the RN and was followed by only five others viz., a total of 14-19.
